Celebrate National Nutrition Week!

Did you know September 1st starts National Nutrition Week? What a great week to help us remember our healthy habits or get us back to it after our summer of relaxing a little more and eating foods that aren’t in our typical lineup. Don’t get me wrong….I did too! We’re human and first and foremost, I believe we will indulge from time to time. Don’t beat yourself up over it. But, now let’s talk nutrition.

I think a lot of us get overwhelmed when we think of the word “Nutrition” especially if we are about to make a change from how we eat now. Here’s the thing…even if we make 1-2 small changes, it’s a change and our bodies will love us for that. We aren’t changing everything right from the start and nor should we. Why? In my experience as a Nutrition and Fitness expert, if we try going from one extreme to another, we very easily self sabotage. It’s overwhelming and too much change all at once.

So, let’s start with a couple of changes instead and master that over the next 3 weeks. It takes 21 days to create a habit so let’s start there. For example, if soda is your thing, either cut it out completely OR cut it down to 1 cup a day. Along with that, instead of always feeling like we’re taking away, let’s add 1-2 extra servings of vegetables a day. That’s it!

Have you ever heard the expression “small changes lead to big results?” There’s a reason for that….because it’s true! Even just making 2 small changes will make you feel so much better in the first week and you will notice differences such as increased energy and alertness, decreased cravings and better sleep. Oh yeah! Don’t forget a weight change.

There are so many great foods to eat and combinations of food groups that help us to feel our best and to achieve the results we want. The suggestions are endless. I love talking about it and I could go on forever, but we don’t have time for that here. If you are looking for changes to make you feel good, message me. It’s my passion to help people learn how to live a healthier, longer life.
